This fall we challenge you to get your gears in order and pedal towards the trails in the Greystone Village neighbourhood. Our community is biking accessible to some of Ottawa’s most scenic routes and sights so grab your helmet and hit the road. It’s a great way to stay active close to home, solo or with friends.

The Big Loop – If you’re looking for an easy ride around Ottawa’s main attractions, including paths to the Rideau Canal and the Ottawa River, this is the one for you. You’ll be able to cycle around the city and stop behind the Parliament Buildings for a quick snap.

The Cataraqui Trail – A cycling favourite, The Cataraqui Trail used to be Canada’s National railway line and now it’s a paved jewel for biking fanatics. It’s open year-round for cyclists, and in the winter snowmobilers favour it. The trail is home to some of nature’s most wondrous creatures! Look out for monarch butterflies and the white tailed deer.

Gatineau Park – For cyclists who want a little extra push, Gatineau Park features 32.5 km of hilly and windy roads for the more experienced biker. If you’re into off-roading, they have mountain bike trails for the adventurer. Bring your bike basket and pack a picnic at Gatineau Park. Head to the picturesque Champlain Lookout for the best view, and enjoy some snacks.

Alymer – For an escapade, cycle the Voyageurs Pathway to experience the views of the Ottawa River. The Deschênes Rapids are a photo-worthy stop, as they feature the ruins of an ancient dam structure that was built in the late 1800s. The Aylmer Marina on the Ottawa River is a sweet spot to check out the sailboats as well as the public parks. There is also a beach so take off your running shoes, and let your feet hit the ground. You’ll be happy to take a break.
