Walkable and Transit Friendly
Transit is a major component of sustainability. As a sustainable green community, Greystone Village will be well-served by a dense network of planned new rapid transit lines with light rail and buses connecting residents with neighbouring communities and downtown. Old Ottawa East is getting a brand new LRT station in the near future. The Lees Avenue transit station is set to be completed in the summer of 2017. A major transit stop is planned 500 meters to the north of the community. A Multi-Use Pathway system (M.U.P.) will connect the Greystone community with Bank Street.
Old Ottawa East and Old Ottawa South boast a variety of bike trails that wind through beautiful parks and scenic locales. The Rideau Canal Eastern Pathway is a premier walking, hiking and biking trail that runs from Hog’s Back to Downtown Ottawa and all through Old Ottawa East and Old Ottawa South. Summer is a wonderful time to ride these trails, enjoying beautiful views of nearby parks and waterways in the background.
